ATLANTA — It's only the second day of hurricane season in the Atlantic, and the National Hurricane Center is highlighting an area off the Georgia coast for potential development. The non-tropical area of low pressure and surrounding thunderstorms are located near western Florida's Gulf coast.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Parts of north Georgia have been placed under a Freeze Warning or Frost Advisory in anticipation of a spring cold-snap Wednesday morning. A Freeze Warning (shown in purple) will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday in far northwest Georgia, where temperatures will fall close to or below freezing (32 degrees). A Frost Advisory (shown in periwinkle blue) will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday along the western and southwest side of the Atlanta metro area.

ATLANTA — A building ridge of high pressure will send temperatures across north Georgia and metro Atlanta into record territory at the end of the week and start of the weekend. High temperatures will range from the mid-80s to the 90s, approaching 20 degrees above average. Atlanta's average high temperature is around 70° in early April, based on weather data records from 1991 to 2020. These records could be met and broke *if* sunshine breaks out each afternoon.
