1 INTRODUCTION Waterlogging is a major abiotic constraint on plant production worldwide (Sasidharan et al., 2017). By depriving roots of oxygen, waterlogging reduces plants' ability to take up and deliver essential nutrients to the shoot, thus affecting the rate of CO2 assimilation and other important metabolic processes (Colmer, 2003).

Global climate modelsThis study uses the daily outputs of climate simulations from 12 state-of-the-art GCMs participating in the CMIP6, including: ACCESS-ESM1-5, BCC-CSM2-MR, CanESM5, CESM2, CMCC-ESM2, GFDL-ESM4, IPSL-CM6A-LR, MPI-ESM1-2-HR, NorESM2-MM, UKESM1-0-LL, MRI-ESM2-0 and EC-Earth3 (Supplementary Table 1). The GCMs are selected from different providers/institutes to ensure a relatively fair distribution and representativeness.

AbstractBiomimetic mechanosensors have profound implications for various areas, including health care, prosthetics, human‒machine interfaces, and robotics. As one of the most important parameters, the sensitivity of mechanosensors is intrinsically determined by the detection resolution to mechanical force. In this manuscript, we expand the force detection resolution of current biomimetic mechanosensors from the micronewton to nanonewton scale.

CGRAnnual global atmospheric CGR spanning from 1960 to 2018 is obtained from the Greenhouse Gas Marine Boundary Layer Reference of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA/ESRL)50. According to the guideline, the annual CGR in a given year is the difference in CO2 concentration between the end of December and the start of January of that year.
