The severe storms have produced a lot of lightning so far this morning. KOCO 5 Field Meteorologist Michael Armstrong was on Highway 270 south of Calumet in Canadian County, where he captured a lightning show. Open the video player below to watch. The lightning storm comes as severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued in parts of central Oklahoma. A tornado watch also is in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday as storms could produce tornadoes and large hail.

LOOKING AT THE TRENDS HERE. YEAH. THAT’S RIGHT. AND IF IT SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE BEEN SEEING A LOT OF NIGHTTIME TORNADOES AND SEVERE WEATHER LATELY, YOU ARE NOT WRONG. AND THE DATA BACKS IT UP. FORTUNATELY, WE AVOIDED THE TORNADO SATURDAY NIGHT, BUT THERE WAS PLENTY OF HAIL AND WIND. OH, YEAH. THERE’S POWER FLASHES. THERE ARE POWER FLASHES GO FULL WITH TOWERCAM, SO OCCASIONALLY YOU’LL SEE THE SPARKS UP IN THE UP IN THE AIR. THERE THEY ARE. RIGHT THERE. YEP. THERE’S THERE’S SOME STRONG WINDS IN HERE.

OKAY. THREE. TWO. I’M KOCO FIVE METEOROLOGIST MICHAEL ARMSTRONG WITH YOUR UPDATED FIRST ALERT. FORECAST LOWS FOR TONIGHT. THEY’RE NOT GOING TO BE TOO COOL. TEMPERATURES ABOVE AVERAGE. AVERAGE LOW 42. WILL BE IN THE UPPER 40S. AND EVEN SOME LOW 50S OVERNIGHT. AND THEN TOMORROW, A QUICK WARM UP. LOOK, WE’RE UP TO 80 DEGREES. AND THAT’S EVEN WITH A WEAK COOL FRONT. THAT’S RIGHT.

SHORTLY. AS A MATTER OF FACT, LET ME BRING MY 360 CAMERA AROUND. YEAH, YOU CAN SEE THEM RIGHT THERE. SO THAT’S ONE OF THE SUPER SCOOPERS. SO THEY ARE GETTING READY TO PLAN FOR AN AIR DROP RIGHT HERE. RIGHT BY OUR LOCATION. THERE GOES ANOTHER ONE. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I’LL LOOK UP AND YOU’LL SEE HIM. THERE IT IS RIGHT THERE. SO THOSE ARE THE SUPER SCOOPERS. AND THEY ARE BASED OUT OF BURNS FLAT RIGHT NOW. AND OUT AT THE CLINTON-SHERMAN AIR BASE.

Oklahoma snow in April. This was in Yukon this morning. Rain mixed with snow for the most part so roads are wet, but the Christmas lights and snow combo was interesting. Now back to Spring. https://t.co/Zsa9YNLLXQ
