The Chicago Cubs have performed much better as a bullpen over the last month or two, however it appears they are still going to be a ways away from getting one of their best arms back from the injured list. Young, flamethrowing right-hander Porter Hodge has been on the injured list since the middle of May after what was a very strong start to the season.

The Washington Nationals have one of the younger teams in Major League Baseball and in turn have one of the better farm systems as well. A couple of years ago, they completely changed the status of their organization when they traded away homegrown superstar Juan Soto, but the return has been jaw-dropping to this point.

The Chicago Cubs have done a very admirable job over the last couple of months weathering the storm of injuries to an already very thin starting rotation. After losing Justin Steele to a season-ending elbow injury, it was not long before star ace Shota Imanaga went down with a hamstring issue of his own that proved to be very serious. Imanaga has been out of the rotation since the beginning of May, a period in which the Cubs have still been able to create a little bit of distance in the standings.

It's easy to forget with it being placed right in the heat of the season, but the Major League Baseball draft is coming up in a few weeks, and the Detroit Tigers will look to land their next future star. The Tigers own the No. 24 selection when the draft starts on July 13, and pundits and analysts alike have been trying to guess the direction they are going to take to find some production in the first round.

The Chicago Cubs have announced a couple of significant roster decisions on Saturday morning. After some serious struggles over the last couple of weeks, the Cubs have designated veteran right-hander Genesis Cabrera for assignment. Chicago acquired Cabrera at the end of May after he was waived by the New York Mets, but things simply have not worked out for him with his new team. In nine Cubs appearances, Cabrera posted an ERA of 8.68 and just could not keep runs off the board.
