Developer The Staenberg Group is busy, building in the Metro East, and just about done with the tear-down of the old Chesterfield Mall. "We're reusing all of the concrete, the asphalt," President Michael Staenberg tells KMOX's Michael Calhoun. "One of the things I'm most proud of is that we've recycled 95 percent of the demolition. Nobody in America does this."All of the piled up rubble, he says, should be gone in about a month, buried as material to level and grade the site.

It's been a major issue for MetroLink riders recently - locked train platforms, with no way for paying passengers to get through the security gates. The problem is that while 11 stations now have new turnstiles installed as part of the "Secure Platform Plan," none of the stations have the ticketing technology that's supposed to open those gates.

The Missouri Broadcasters Association annual meeting began with the induction of three KMOX alums into the state Hall of Fame and concluded with KMOX news and talk winning awards in multiple categories. Cardinals baseball broadcaster John Rooney was the host of the Hall of Fame banquet on Friday night. Rooney is now joined in the MBA Hall of Fame by Joe Buck, Ron Jacober, and Jim Jackson. Buck spent 16 years calling the Cards on radio and television before moving to Fox and, now, ESPN.

Today begins a week of mourning for the late Missouri U.S. Senator and Governor Kit Bond, who died last week at the age of 86. The Highway Patrol will lead a procession from St. Louis to the state capitol, which leaves Tuesday at 9 a.m. A state memorial service is slated for noon. The service will include music from the 135th Army Band, remarks from Governor Mike Kehoe, and tributes from current and former elected officials and staff. The service is open to the public.
