SEQUIM — Port Angeles’ Cale Wentz and Sequim’s Adrian Aragon produced some of the best competitive golf scores in recent years on the North Olympic Peninsula, with the junior golfers shooting nine-hole rounds of 4-under-par 32 on the front nine at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course on Thursday. The two teams played the front nine as a par 36. Normally, Cedars is a 37/35 par-72 layout. “We had a great day at Cedars. These gents have been working, and it’s beginning to show for each of them.

PORT ANGELES — Senior Lexie Smith belted two home runs — including a grand slam — as the Port Angeles Roughriders rolled past rival Sequim 18-1 in five innings Wednesday at Dry Creek Elementary School. The Roughriders notched 14 hits, chasing Wolves starting pitcher Rylin Whitehead with one out in the first inning. Smith opened the game with a two-run shot in the first and added her grand slam as the Riders wrapped the game with a four-run fourth.
