The Peninsula Daily News made its debut in Port Angeles on April 10, 1916. Initially named the Port Angeles Evening News, it was founded by A.A. Smith and E.B. Webster, two individuals with a strong passion for journalism. In 1972, the publication was renamed The Daily News, and in 1987, it was rebranded as the Peninsula Daily News to indicate its transition from an afternoon to a morning paper. This change also highlighted its extensive coverage area, which includes stunning mountains, beautiful beaches, lush valleys, and significant historical landmarks, stretching from the charming Victorian seaport of Port Townsend on Puget Sound to the rugged Pacific coastline near the Quileute Indian reservation.
