Oscar Piastri has driven a flawless race from pole position to win the Bahrain Grand Prix, his second win this Formula 1 season. The Australian was in a class of his own to beat Mercedes' George Russell in second and McLaren teammate Lando Norris third. Russell will be investigated after the race for reportedly accidentally opening his DRS (drag reduction system) illegally.

Oscar Piastri has a golden opportunity to be the first driver this season to register multiple victories as he starts the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix from pole. The McLaren driver, who converted from pole two rounds ago in China, will have Ferrari's Charles Leclerc for company at the front of the grid. Piastri's teammate Lando Norris and world champion Max Verstappen — the other grand prix winners through three rounds this season — will start sixth and seventh.

Rugby league champion Johnathan Thurston says he is happy to discuss any issues Spencer Leniu, or the Sydney Roosters, have with him privately, following an "unwarranted" altercation at Lang Park on Friday. Thurston and Leniu were involved in a heated exchange following the Roosters' 26-16 win over the Brisbane Broncos. The issue stemmed from comments Thurston made in the wake of Leniu's racial comment to Ezra Mam during last year's Las Vegas opener.

Australian Oscar Piastri will start an F1 grand prix from pole for the second time in his career, qualifying fastest in Bahrain for Monday's (AEST) race. The Melbourne-born McLaren ace produced a blistering lap of 1:29.841 to qualify fastest ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso had steering issues during Friday's practice in Bahrain, leading the Aston Martin driver's steering wheel being dislodged while on track. Alonso reported to his team during the second practice session that he was struggling with steering and that the computer functions on the steering wheel were not operating correctly.
