EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -A heat dome set-up over the eastern United States will persist through the work week. Triple-digit heat indices, likely between 100-107, will be possible every day through Friday. While we are expected to remain mostly dry through the week there are some isolated downpour/t-storm chances during the heating of the day. Slightly better chances for scattered showers and storms arrive this weekend.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - High pressure will remain anchored just to our southeast through the weekend and into next week. Not only will this high-pressure system keep us mostly dry, but it will allow heat and humidity to build through the weekend and into next week. A Heat Advisory is now in effect across much of the Tri-State through Tuesday evening for the potential of triple-digit heat indices ranging between 100-108. Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s this afternoon and again on Sunday.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - More showers and storms are expected through much of the work week. Some storms may develop very heavy rainfall and could lead to some isolated areas of flooding Monday and Tuesday. A cold front will swing through Wednesday night and may bring us better chances for some strong or severe storms. High pressure will finally bring sunshine back into the forecast for the weekend. For the rest of the day expect a mix of sun and clouds with a slight chance for an isolated shower.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - An area of low pressure will continue to drift over the Tri-State through the weekend. This disturbance will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast Saturday and Sunday. Then, with heat and humidity on the rise, we’ll be set up for daily afternoon pop-up storms through next week. More scattered showers and some thunderstorms are expected today.
