IN THE SPRING OF 1998, Carl Belz (1937–2016) mounted his valedictory exhibition at the Rose Art Museum of Brandeis University as its director: a selection of thirty-nine works by the American painter Joseph Marioni, then fifty-five years old. The main part of the holy Hajj, the largest gathering of Muslims, has begun. On Tuesday afternoon, the Hajj sermon started from Namira in the mosque adjacent to the Arafat Maidan. This year the Hajj sermon was given by Sheikh Dr. Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Saeed.
