A mother has been charged with child neglect after police responded to a near-drowning in the 4100 block of North Haverhill Drive in West Palm Beach. On Friday, just after 5 p.m., the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) responded to a call about a possible drowning, where a 4-year-old was recovered from the bottom of a pool. First responders attended to the child, who was then transported to a local hospital. The 4-year-old is now recovering.

A loaded handgun was found Thursday in a student's backpack at an elementary school in Palm Beach County. The firearm was found at Panther Run Elementary School, located at 10775 Lake Worth Road near Wellington, according to Principal Risa Suarez.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A nurse who was brutally beaten at a hospital in Palm Beach County last month continues to recover weeks after the attack. The nurse, Leelamma Lal, suffered critical injuries Feb. 18 after investigators said she was attacked at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital by a patient who was under a psychiatric hold.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — The city of Boynton Beach now has two new red-light cameras along Congress Avenue and Miner Road. They're part of the 17 that have been installed across the city. Violations will result in a fine of $158. The city says red-light camera violations are considered civil violations — you'll pay an initial $158 fine but if that's not paid within 60 days, it will become a traffic violation, with a fine of $264.
