WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A nurse who was brutally beaten at a hospital in Palm Beach County last month continues to recover weeks after the attack. The nurse, Leelamma Lal, suffered critical injuries Feb. 18 after investigators said she was attacked at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital by a patient who was under a psychiatric hold.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — The city of Boynton Beach now has two new red-light cameras along Congress Avenue and Miner Road. They're part of the 17 that have been installed across the city. Violations will result in a fine of $158. The city says red-light camera violations are considered civil violations — you'll pay an initial $158 fine but if that's not paid within 60 days, it will become a traffic violation, with a fine of $264.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A fundraiser will be held at a local bar in West Palm Beach Thursday night to gather funds for Leelamma Lal, a Palms West Hospital nurse who was violently attacked by a patient last month. The event, hosted by Rack N Balls Pub and Ink Link Tatoo & Piercing starting at 7 p.m., will be donating all funds to Leela and her family every Thursday through March. There will be a candlelight vigil, some fundraising activities and a 10% discount on all checks.

BELLE GLADE, Fla. — Funeral arrangements have been made for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputy Basil Powell who was shot and killed in a targeted attack outside his home in Belle Glade Feb. 10. A public viewing will be held for Powell on Friday, Feb. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Camel Funeral Hone, located at 725 South Main Street in Belle Glade. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center at 1977 SW College Drive in Belle Glade.
