Paul Strand was a renowned photographer who was just delving into the rising world of cinema in the early 1920s. His newest short film Manhatta was a celebration of the city of New York. It is an eleven minute short film, consisting of over sixty shots of different locales on the Island of Manhattan. Assisting him with this project was his likely cohort, Charles Sheeler. The film contained many shots that could stand alone as their own powerful works of architectural photography.
