(WGN) — An Indiana man allegedly cheated in an Illinois bass fishing tournament earlier this month by bringing fish across state lines and trying to pass them off as tournament catches. According to a news release Thursday from the state, Illinois Conservation Police received information on May 10 that 49-year-old David Moore, of St. John’s Ind., was hiding fish on a stringer on the Calumet River.

CHICAGO (WGN) — A shooting on Chicago’s Southwest Side left an 8-year-old girl dead and 10 others, including three children, injured Saturday night. Chicago police say officers responded to a shot spotter alert in the 2000 block of West 52nd Street, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, just after 9:15 p.m. Arriving officers found several people who had suffered gunshot wounds. Police say the spot shotter picked up 18 rounds fired at the location.

I’m experiencing muscle pains I’ve not felt in a long time due to my latest weekend project. I spent several hours performing a balancing act on the loader bucket and arms of my Farmall M in an effort to add bracing to a high tunnel. It was a workout, but doing it in temperatures so warm that I didn’t need gloves was a blessing.
