JOLIET, Ill. — Fire crews continue to battle a large blaze Monday morning at a manufacturing facility in southwest suburban Joliet, near the I-55 and Route 59 interchange. Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the blaze at Rovanco Piping Systems, located at 20535 SE Frontage Rd., along the border of Joliet and Shorewood. The company manufactures pre-insulated diesel exhaust and fluid piping systems. Authorities have not yet provided any details on why or when the fire may have started.

CHICAGO — A fatal multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning is causing what Illinois State Police say are expected to be extended delays on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway, with all southbound lanes closed at 87th Street. According to ISP, troopers responded to that location around 3:15 a.m. to the report of a fatal three-car crash.

CHICAGO — The driver of a stalled vehicle was killed when their car was rear-ended by a semi-truck on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway at 59th Street late Friday night, according to Illinois State Police. ISP says troopers responded to the location around 11:30 p.m., a preliminary investigation indicating a Nissan sedan was stalled in the second left inside lane when a semi-truck that was unable to stop crashed into its rear end.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A teacher at Neuqua Valley High School, who is accused of grooming and sexually abusing a student, has been granted pretrial release. William Schaub, 56, of La Grange, is charged with felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and grooming. The judge granted Schaub pretrial release Friday during a court hearing, after agreeing with the defense that he is not a threat to the public. He has no prior criminal record.

CHICAGO — Six people were transported to University of Chicago Hospital, five with critical injuries, following a fire overnight at a multi-family apartment building in Kenwood on the city’s South Side, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesperson. When firefighters got the call, they heard that some people had jumped from the back of the building to escape the fire. A neighbor corroborated that. “A couple people had to jump,” neighbor Elaine Mason said.
