MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Thursday held a bill signing for a piece of legislation that imposes harsher penalties for drug crimes, particularly those involving the synthetic opioid fentanyl. Senate Bill 196, titled Lauren's Law, retooled much of the state's standing law regarding the possession, manufacture and sale of controlled substances, as well as laws pertaining to the transportation of controlled substances into the state and conspiracy to commit such crimes.

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A Randolph County man was sentenced Wednesday on federal drug charges. William Durnal, 60, of Elkins, was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for methamphetamine possession and distribution, according to a release from the office of acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard.

(WV News) — The West Virginia Department of Tourism has added three new Almost Heaven swings to the Mountain State: Sportsman Park in Wirt County, Tygart Lake State Park in Taylor County, and Valley Falls State Park in Marion County. There are now 36 Almost Heaven photo-op swings available throughout the state, making it easy for travelers to access one in all regions of West Virginia. Visitors are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #AlmostHeaven.
