    EL CENTRO — Madeleine Macholtz, profesora de ciencias ambientales y química de la Escuela Secundaria Central Union, se sintió como una estrella de rock al final del año escolar el miércoles, su último día antes de jubilarse.     EL CENTRO — El Concejo de El Centro aprobó la noche del martes3 de junio una subvención "California Limpia" del Departamento de Transporte de California para ayudar a embellecer la zona centro de la ciudad. El Concejo aprobó los conceptos de diseño presentados por COAR Design Group. La Directora de Servicios Comunitarios, Adriana Nava, afirmó que se trató de una subvención muy competitiva. "Fuimos uno de los 42 seleccionados de un total de 232 solicitantes", declaró Nava.

    CALEXICO — The Calexico City Council Wednesday night approved the repair authorization of its wastewater treatment plant that was built in 1965. Interim City Manager Rick Daniels said the plant is part of the city’s Capital Improvement Projects. He told the council the 60 capital improvement projects have been funded but have yet to be done. If the projects are not done by 2029, the grant money must be returned.

    EL CENTRO — The El Centro City Council Tuesday night approved the California Department of Transportation Clean California Grant to help beautify downtown El Centro. The Council approved the design concepts presented by COAR Design Group. Community Services Director Adriana Nava said it was a very competitive grant. “We were one of 42 who were selected out of 232 applicants,” Nava said.

The Columbia City Council Monday night voted 4-3 to not bring back the Henderson Branch Sewer Project for a first read on July 16. Mayor Brian Treece and councilors Ian Thomas, karl Skala and Betsy Peters voted against Second Ward Councilman Mike Trapp’s motion.
