News Brief Tuesday February 18, 2025 10:40 am Teachers in two school districts have secured “crucial” salary increases and other benefits according to a media release sent to EdSource and news reports. In Guerneville School District, the school system averted a strike that all of the district’s teachers voted for in December if the teachers union and district couldn’t agree. In El Camino Real Charter High School, a weeklong strike led to an agreement.

News Brief Friday October 4, 2024 8:38 am The California Supreme Court will hold a special outreach session in Fresno Oct. 9 so that local students can watch oral arguments on the court’s calendar that day. The court’s outreach programs allow students to participate in and learn from the judicial process, according to a press release from the court. Students also will be allowed to ask questions of the justices before oral arguments begin.

News Brief Thursday October 3, 2024 9:30 am The Berkeley Unified School District agreed to a settlement Tuesday, that requires them to pay $13.5 million to nine women who say they were sexually abused and harassed by a high school science teacher, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Lead plaintiff Rachel Phillips and eight other women who attended Berkeley High School filed the lawsuit in 2021.
