Delaware North Cos., which has run the concessions at the KeyBank Center since it opened, will remain the concessionaire at the arena for at least the next three seasons. The Buffalo-based hospitality and food service management company has reached a three-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres to provide food and beverage and retail services at the arena. It's a deal that could become a long-term agreement in the coming years.

More than a half century ago, the Buffalo Bills moved out of the city to build a stadium in Orchard Park, which has spurred little development around it and is viewed by some downtown advocates as a missed opportunity. More recently, some local officials, downtown advocates and business leaders pushed for the Bills’ new stadium to be built downtown, arguing that it would bring more activity and vitality to the city.

This summer will be a critical time for the post-construction phase of the Buffalo Bills' new stadium. That’s when some of the most important hires will be made for hospitality provider Legends, helping it prepare to meet goals to include small businesses and entities from disadvantaged communities at the $2.2 billion stadium. It will also be a time when the transportation hub project to make travel in and out of the facility more seamless advances with the scheduling of a public forum.

Grass doesn’t typically grow year-round in Buffalo, but the Buffalo Bills are aiming to change that inside their new stadium. The team decided on a natural grass field in the $2.2 billion stadium after playing on artificial turf since moving to Orchard Park in 1973. Having a natural grass playing surface is going to take significantly more effort to build and maintain, but the Bills prioritized it as NFL players push for making playing surfaces safer and more consistent.

The soccer stadium proposed for downtown Buffalo isn’t happening. It’s going a couple of miles away, to the former Medaille College sports complex, instead. The decision comes after the group trying to bring a pro soccer team to Buffalo moved off its preferred plan for a $40 million downtown stadium on parking lots between the former Buffalo News and HSBC Atrium buildings on Washington Street that would have required around $20 million in public financing.
