The transformation of the Resource Council of WNY has been a priority for the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. The foundation has given more than $1.5 million over the last decade to support the council's East Buffalo community center that now provides services for more than 7,000 people each year. The former YMCA building at 347 E. Ferry St., once owned by Gateway-Longview Services, provides programming, recreation, classes and community space for children, adults, families and seniors.

The Buffalo Bisons are still seeking to reimagine their Ballpark Plaza at Sahlen Field, but it won’t happen this season, and it won’t include an 8-foot fenced in area. A fence that would have closed off space for a fan gathering area in front of the ballpark was denied last month by the Buffalo Zoning Board of Appeals. It has the Bisons rethinking what they may do to create a private area for parties and gatherings that occur outside the ballpark during some home games.
