BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Owners of unregistered houseboats in Louisiana are being warned to get them registered or removed. The warning is coming from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. According to the agency, agents are patrolling for unregistered houseboats and are tracking down owners. Owners who refuse to get a houseboat removed or registered with LDWF will face a citation, a spokesperson with the agency said.

The program, called SUN Bucks, offers a one-time $120 benefit to pay for items at the grocery store, according to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (WAFB) - A nuclear power plant in the St. Francisville area is modernizing how it notifies nearby residents in the event of a potential emergency. According to Entergy, the River Bend Station will transition to a nationally approved system that alerts local broadcast and news outlets. The system also sends notifications directly to phones, radios, and televisions within a 10-mile radius of the plant.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Several OMV field offices are opening on Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, May 3, to help people obtain a REAL ID ahead of the deadline. The offices that will be open are located in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Livingston, New Orleans, Monroe, Shreveport, and West Bank. The offices will take visitors between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.You can schedule an appointment ahead of time, but walk-ins are also welcome.

CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire that burned through the roof of a home in Central early Sunday morning, April 6. According to the Central Fire Department, the fire began around 3:30 a.m. at the home on Virgil Jackson Avenue. When crews got to the scene, they discovered smoke and flames coming from the back side of the home. The fire had already burned through part of the roof before crews arrived. The flames were quickly extinguished by the fire department.
