WEST HARTFORD - As work continues on the $10 million reconstruction of West Hartford Center, the town has released a draft of the area's master plan, giving a broader glimpse of the popular dining and shopping destination's future. Right now, construction crews are tearing up and replacing sidewalk on LaSalle Road, part of the first phase of the reconstruction plan that will widen sidewalks, replace aging trees and make the roadway safer for pedestrians.

WEST HARTFORD - The town is embarking on a new initiative to become an " age-friendly community," a World Heath Organization program that looks to address any barriers or challenges that older residents might face. Spearheaded by Kevin Ryan, a town resident and member of the West Hartford Senior Center, and the senior center director, Rebecca Sears, the bigger picture of becoming age-friendly really goes beyond focusing on the town's older residents.

WEST HARTFORD - A $25,000 gift that an ardent supporter of the West Hartford Public Library left after his death continues to enrich the library - particularly the children's department. In 2022, following West Hartford resident Michael Wilder's death, the library's foundation received the donation from him, which has been used to supplement its offerings, children's librarian Carol Waxman said.
