Family members of Gary Spohr, 70, also allege that his death forced his wife, Wendy Wood, 68, into a depression that led her to kill herself in 2023. Wood was also shot several times. At American River Raft Rentals, the employees have the rafts ready. Co-owner Kent Hansen said the three-day weekend brings out hundreds of people who want to spend their day off, floating on the water. "Our rafts are actually intended for this river. They're heavy-duty, high on rafts," Hansen said.
