Whiteout Street Party tickets are some of the hottest tickets in town. The party for Game 5 between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars went on sale Monday and sold out in minutes. Those who missed out on being able to purchase have been left to scour online marketplaces or third-party websites. But some Jets fans have been struggling to find legit tickets. Keri McGraw is one of those people. She has yet to score tickets to the event. “Very sad. I want to experience it once in my life,” she said.

More eyes, ears and helping hands are hitting the street in Osborne Village. At The Happy Cooker, owner Mark Bartling said knives have always been kept under lock and key, and staff are trained to handle their sale carefully. “As retailers, we’re not trained in any kind of area with regard to de-escalation or recognizing any kind of addiction,” Bartling said. “That’s not our job, but our job is to remain calm.”Soon, street teams with that type of training will be patrolling the popular area.

As the federal election draws closer, a group of Manitoba First Nations’ chiefs wants people to use their voice by voting. “Our nations depend on it, our children depend on it, and we depend on you as your leaders to make sure that you go and vote,” said Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) Grand Chief Garrison Settee. “Because we’re about to make major changes in this country.”At the core of those changes is the culture surrounding and the protection of Jordan’s Principle.

A building in Winnipeg’s Exchange District may soon be transformed into apartments and updated retail space. The plan for the old Sanford Building and Maw’s Garage, located at 291 Bannatyne Avenue, is still in the early stages. However, neighbours are voicing concerns about the redevelopment plan, saying it doesn’t fit with the area’s historic feel.

In less than a week, Fort Whyte Alive will welcome nature lovers into a brand-new visitor centre and debut a second, more accessible entrance. Liz Wilson, president and CEO of Fort Whyte Alive, says the centre’s grand opening is set for noon on April 23. Up until now, the certified zero-carbon centre has been called Buffalo Crossing.
