The FTSE 100 opened in the red this morning following credit rating agency Moody’s downgrading its assessment of US sovereign debt on Friday afternoon.
The main UK index shed 0.48%, or 41 points, to trade at 8,642 as US-exposed stocks led the blue-chips lower after the Moody’s downgrade on Friday. The world’s largest economy lost its perfect triple-A rating, which was moved to Aa1 on concerns about ballooning debt and interest costs.
