UBS Asset Management to enter active ETF market

UBS Asset Management has launched a new low-cost ETF range and signaled its intention to enter the active ETF market. The new Core suite contains seven ETFs and covers all the major asset classes, including the US, Europe, Emerging Markets and Japan. The asset manager plans to add fixed income products to the range at a future date. The total expense ratio on the funds range from 0.03% on the UBS Core S&P 500 Ucits ETF, to 0.15% on the UBS Core MSCI Emerging Markets Ucits ETF.

Rathbones keeps close eye on costs after £5bn Q1 blow

Rathbones has indicated it could be forced to make more cost cuts after a £5.1bn decline in assets under management in the first quarter. This equated to a 4.7% fall in AuM, leaving the wealth firm sitting on £104.1bn worth of assets at the end of March. Brooks Macdonald chief risk officer (CRO) Louis Petherick has left the wealth firm after just under two years, Citywire can reveal. It is understood Petherick was offered an attractive package from another business to quit Brooks. It is not clear whether this offer has come from a rival wealth firm. Banks including HSBC and Barclays have been returning to the advice space with an eye on expanding their coverage for ‘premier’ clients. The private banking arm of NatWest had a strong start to the year, with profits more than doubling. According to a trading update the unit, which includes Coutts, recorded a 133% year-on-year jump in first quarter operating profit to £77m.
