EAST LANSING, Mich — The East Lansing Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old from Fowlerville. Police say Caleb Alan Shermoe was assaulted early Saturday morning in the 300 block of East Grand River Avenue. Shermoe was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. East Lansing Police say they have been investigating since the initial call and were able to locate a suspect. ELPD will seek charges against that suspect through the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office.

EAST LANSING, Mich — (WSYM) - The East Lansing Police Department has identified a person of interest in the double homicide case that involved human remains found in a freezer in early November. On Thursday, November 7th, ELPD was requested to the 1500 block of Wintercrest St. for a 'suspicious situation'. ELPD officers searched the home and found the human remains of two people inside a freezer. During the investigation, it was determined that a homicide had occurred.

EAST LANSING, Mich — (WSYM)- The East Lansing Police Department is investigating after a grizzly discovery in a neighborhood home. Police say they were called to a home in the 1500 block of Wintercrest just after Noon Thursday, November 8, for a 'suspicious situation.'The 911 caller told dispatchers there was blood on the floor inside the home. ELPD officers searched the home and found a body inside a freezer.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — (WSYM)- East Lansing City Manager Robert Bellman announced East Lansing Police Chief Kim Johnson's resignation in a press release on Tuesday, May 28, more than a week after Johnson's last day, Monday, May 20. Johnson had been on paid administration leave since April 11, when an internal complaint sparked an investigation by the city attorney. Johnson started with ELPD in 1982. He retired as a captain in 2012 and returned as Chief on October 5, 2020.
