(FOX5) - Three days after a gunman opened fire at a Las Vegas Athletic Club on Rainbow near Lake Mead, gym-goers filed back in for their morning workouts to start the week as the location reopened. For some, it was difficult being inside the building so soon after the shooting. “It made me sick,” Matt Devasthali told FOX5 in the gym’s parking lot. “I had to run outside, and I’m still trying to catch my breath because the feeling’s not the same.”Devasthali ended his workout early.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A hearing in Derek Myers’ lawsuit against the City of Las Vegas has been moved to June 25 to allow the city’s legal team to review related case documents. Myers says a traffic stop from earlier this year violated his constitutional rights. During this stop, the lawsuit claims a marshal drew a handgun, made threats with a stun gun, and slammed him to the ground. Part of Myers’ argument revolves around jurisdiction, since this happened on I-11 near Craig Road.

Thursday’s meeting focused on preventing tragedies like the death of a high school senior last week. McKenzie Scott was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver. “We know that an effort for student safety requires every single one of us,” said Superintendent Jhone Ebert.

(FOX5) - As the man accused of hitting and killing high school senior McKenzie Scott while driving under the influence awaits his fate in court, a strong push for change continues in the north valley community around Arbor View High School. “Right now, we could use crossing guards,” Krista Holloway, founder of Walk Safely LV, told FOX5 Wednesday morning as she and a crowd of a couple dozen parents and students demonstrated outside the north valley high school.

Keenan Jackson didn’t speak publicly, but tears ran down his face as he waited for his name to be called. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson sat in on Jackson’s status check and talked afterward about increasing penalties for driving under the influence.
