The newly installed water system at Cal Fire Station 30 is now up and running. Flowing faucets and flushing toilets made it possible for the return of firefighters and their engines last Thursday. The station was closed for a total of 93 days. Several members of the community told NBC 7 Investigates they weren't aware of the closure for most of that stretch, and not until one of their neighbors' homes burned down.

Families in Dulzura have now been waiting 87 days for Cal Fire Station 30 to reopen. It shut down in February without warning, outside of a flyer posted to its fence and front door. It's unclear how much longer that closure will last after a new problem emerged during repairs to its water system. In the meantime, those families are afraid that help won't arrive fast enough when the next emergency strikes.
