Health officials are advising people to stay out of the water at six beaches near Ottawa because of high levels of bacteria. The Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark District Health Unit says it has found elevated levels of E.coli at the Almonte beach, Riverside beach and Centennial beach in Carleton Place, Merrickville beach, Bellamy Park beach in Kitley, and Dalhousie Lake in Lanark Highlands.

The OPP says two people were injured in a collision on Highway 417 on Saturday. Police say that just before 2 a.m., the vehicle hit a barrier on Kent Street before rolling over. Both the driver and passenger were brought to hospital and were treated for minor injuries. OPP officers charged the driver with impaired driving and say they registered "more than twice the legal limit". They have been hit with a 90-day driver's licence suspension and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Playing two games five days apart wasn't ideal, but the Ottawa Redblacks liked the end result after posting back-to-back wins over the Edmonton Elks with a 20-14 victory Friday night. The win allowed Ottawa to improve to 4-2 on the season and remain undefeated at TD Place. Things continue to spiral for the Elks who fell to 0-6 and continue to search for answers. Edmonton was hoping to find a spark with Jarious Jackson making his CFL head coaching debut, but came up short - again.

The Ottawa Police service have charged a local teacher for sexual assaults against minors. They say the assaults happened at Ottawa based programs and schools since 2019. Police say the 37-year-old teacher has been charged with sexual assault, voyeurism, sexual exploitation and telecommunication with a person under the age of 18 for a specific criminal offence. He is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. Investigators say they believe there could be other victims.

Environment Canada says that a heat warning for Halifax and most of the province will continue throughout the weekend and into next week. According to the weather agency, the high temperatures and scorching humidex will continue until Wednesday. "Currently, warning conditions are not expected for the southwestern corner of the province, however these conditions may begin to be met in that area on Sunday," wrote officials.
