MILLTOWN — Saint Mark’s overcame two early deficits and got five innings of two-hit relief pitching in a 6-2 victory over Newark Charter on April 8. The Spartans moved to 5-0 with the win. The Patriots opened the scoring in the first on doubles by Shane Connor and Doron Griffin, but the Spartans’ Zach Pruitt scored on a sacrifice fly to tie it in the second. Newark Charter regained the lead in the third.

It’s been a busy spring on the campus of Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton, Maryland, as the academic year rolls into its final months. For three students, in addition to their academics and extracurriculars, those activities have included finding a new spiritual home in the Catholic faith. Sophomores Brynne Morgan and William Coughlan and junior Braeden Wefelmeyer will be joining the church in the near future.

Stephanie Packer was told in 2012 that she had three years to live. So far, the doctors that made that prognosis are off by just 10 years. Packer, 42, who lives in Orange County, Calif., visited Dover on March 11 to share her story with Delaware representatives who were then considering House Bill 140, which would legalize medical aid in dying, also called physician-assisted suicide.

CLAYMONT – Archmere overcame a late deficit in the first set and battled Christiana point for point over the next two sets in a 3-0 sweep in boys volleyball on April 7 at Moglia Fieldhouse. Set scores were 26-24, 25-18, and 25-25-20 as the Auks won their sixth straight. Christiana led by as many as five in the first, taking a 13-8 advantage following an Auks error.
