One of the most compelling storylines of Day 3 of the NFL Draft was where former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers would end up. Lost in the Shedeur Sanders fall to the fifth round (and all the headlines that surrounded it) was how Ewers was the 13th quarterback taken in the draft, the 231st overall pick by the Miami Dolphins. Ewers was selected below Florida's Graham Mertz (sixth round), North Dakota State's Cam Miller (sixth round) and Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke (seventh round).

I've already picked instant impact rookies. After this article, go read that one. But now, let's go further than that. Or, maybe you can call this a more zoomed-out view. How about instant-impact entire draft classes? Sounds fun, right? Getting valuable contributions from multiple rookies can transform a team in a given year, as those players are as cheap as they come in the NFL.

The NFL is full of dynamic, exciting quarterbacks all around the league. Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, C.J. Stroud and Justin Herbert duking it out in the AFC is always a thrilling show. Over in the NFC, Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, Jordan Love, Baker Mayfield and Brock Purdy are also playing compelling football.

Value is a tricky concept on a football field. No one denies that certain positions and certain players make more of an impact for a team's win-loss record than others. It's the attempts to quantify said impact that can be wonky. My favorite barometer is simply the NFL's own attempts to do so: contracts. Quarterbacks are top dogs, followed by edge rushers and receivers. Defensive tackles, cornerbacks and offensive tackles represent the next tier.
