The Isle of Wight is a popular walking destination. The Island has excellent footpaths that showcase our amazing Coastal and Downland landscapes. Visitors are attracted to the Island throughout the year. Some 60 to 70 per cent of residents enjoy healthy walking across the Island. Strange anomalies exist in East CowesOur maps show that whilst there is a good path network in most Island towns and villages, there are no paths leading to the countryside in East Cowes.

There have been several reports recently about landowners or their agents confronting people walking along Island beaches adjacent to shoreline property. Priory Bay and Ryde Roads shorelines have been mentioned as problem areas. Walkers often believe that when the tide is out, they have free access to the King’s beaches. The reality is not as simple.
