Tuesday evening update: Rain continues across our eastern/southern counties tonight. The rest of the area is drying out. However, the clouds are going to stick around with cool temperatures. Good news for those tired of the cool temps! Wednesday is set to be a transition day. We’ll start off cloudy and cool, maybe with some leftover morning rain, but as the day goes on, that wedge is expected to finally break down and move out. What does that mean for us?

Before the barbecues begin, before the pools open, and before we embrace the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day holds a profound and solemn purpose. It is a day dedicated to remembering and honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Across Augusta, from ceremonies at our veterans’ parks to quiet moments of reflection, we pause to acknowledge their courage and their loss.

Saturday night update: Moisture is on the increase, and while it’s been pretty dry near the ground, that’s changing. A weather disturbance moving in from the west is bringing rain with it, and we expect showers, and maybe even a rumble of thunder or two, to start creeping into the northern/western CSRA after about 2 AM Sunday morning. There is the chance of an isolated severe storm (damaging winds and hail).

Friday evening update: We are sitting nice and comfy in the upper 70s to mid-80s. The best part? The humidity is taking a break, with dew points way down in the 40s and 50s. We have a bit of a breeze thanks to a weak system passing through, but it’s not quite as gusty as yesterday. As we head into tonight, expect those winds to calm down and shift, coming in from the northeast. This will help clear skies out and, combined with that dry air, allow temperatures to drop quite nicely.

If you’ve lived in the CSRA for more than five minutes, you know our summers aren’t just hot—they’re sticky, soupy, and steamy. And if you’ve ever checked your weather app and thought, “Wait, it’s 90 degrees, but it feels like 105?! What gives?”—you’re not alone. That “feels like” number is called the heat index, and it plays a big role in how we experience summer down here. Let’s break it down (without breaking a sweat, hopefully). Think of the heat index as the “real feel” temperature.
