February 1st, 2018, started as a normal day for then 28-year old Baker. She was the curriculum director in Pecatonica and was about to start a meeting with colleagues when she suddenly felt like she was going to be sick. “I took one step towards the door, and my heart stopped,” Baker said.

Dr. Neelu Puri leads lung cancer research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. She said catching lung cancer early is crucial because the survival rate of late-stage lung cancer is about 5%.
