Graphical Abstract High-density cationic defects coupling with local alkaline-enriched environment were developed to inhibit the dissolution of highly active species during oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline solution. A higher concentration of alkaline around cationic defects than bulk electrolyte enables ultrafast diffusion of OH− ions. This novel strategy greatly enhances the stability and improves the activity.
