Several players played a big part in the Pittsburgh Pirates dominant 12-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon, but there was one player in particular who continued to swing a hot bat. Jack Suwinski, who has been on fire since the start of the Grapefruit League slate, stuffed that stat sheet in the win. Suwinski finished 2 for 3 with a double with his two hits registering exit velocities of 107.2 and 106.1 mph. He also drove in three more runs, stole two bases and scored once.

The Minnesota Wild jumped out to a two goal 1st quarter lead on Tuesday night, in the 2nd half of a back-to-back home/away mini series vs the Detroit Red Wings, but failed to score again the rest of the game. They eventually fell 3-2 in regulation. Minnesota’s biggest issue right now is not their play on the ice, talent on the roster or will to win. It’s health (and one stupid suspension).

The Minnesota Vikings won 14 games in 2024, with rehabbed bridge quarterback Sam Darnold. At least, he was supposed to be a bridge quarterback when he originally signed a 1 year, $10 million contract as a free agent last offseason. The Darnold bridge plan became even more clear when general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah landed head coach Kevin O’Connell a quarterback of the future at No. 10 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, in J.J. McCarthy.

In 2024, the Minnesota Twins entered Spring Training with what they believed was one of the better bullpens in baseball. Unfortunately, that belief had turned to doubt by the time they left Fort Myers, and headed north for the start of the regular season. From there, injuries in the relief corps only made the situation worse. In 2025, the Twins seem to yet again have one of the best bullpens in the league, on paper. Through the first few Spring Training games they have shown exceptionally well, too.

The Minnesota Gophers welcomed the Northwestern Wildcats into Williams Arena on Tuesday night. Ben Johnson’s team entered the game as slight 2.5 point favorites. It’s not a situation that the Gophers have been in often this season, and it’s also one they haven’t handled well. Minnesota is at a critical juncture in their regular season. 14th in the Big Ten standings, only the top 15 teams make it to the year-end tournament.

But one of the main focuses this offseason for general manager Kwesi Adofo Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell is on the interior of the offensive line, where the Vikings have struggled to find requisite answers for the better part of a decade.
