Souter died peacefully at his home in New Hampshire, according to a press release from the court. President George H.W. Bush appointed the New Hampshire Republican to the court in 1990, after serving for a short time on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

In 2024, 68% of the state’s fourth graders and 75% of eighth graders were at or above basic proficiency in reading, both the lowest rates since the early 1990s.

Karma, a five year-old female American bulldog, and Gigi, a one-year-old female Chihuahua, are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. The dogs were brought to the shelter due to a housing situation. They didn’t come to the shelter as a bonded pair, but in the shelter they became inseparable, according to ARL.
