A Northern California community continues to mourn the painful loss of a freshman football coach who was killed Wednesday morning by a motorist while riding his bicycle near school. Dylan Taylor, in hs first season coaching at Menlo-Atherton High School in San Mateo County, was riding his bicycle in a designated bike lane around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Atherton Police Department in a news release, when he was struck by the car.

The Sac-Joaquin softball high school playoff brackets have been released. All seven divisions begin Wednesday with championship games May 24 except in Division 7 which takes place May 17. CIF Northern Regional play runs June 3-7 with no state championships yet approved. Top seeds in each division are Del Oro (D1), Rocklin (D2), Central Catholic (D3), Destiny Christian Academy (D4), Casa Roble (D5), Argonaut (D6) and Foresthill (D7).

A San Francisco Bay Area high school baseball coach, suspended while his team is being investigated for making alleged racists and homophobic remarks, said he’s merely a “scapegoat.”According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, Pinole Valley head coach T’won Blake and an assistant have been suspended since last week after allegations from two games, one captured on a video from an April 23 home game against Albany.

She didn't shatter any more windshileds but Granada (Livermore) senior first baseman Delaney Aumua demolished the single-season North Coast Section record for home runs on Tuesday. The powerful Auburn commit blasted home runs No. 16, 17 and 18 — all well over the fence in left and left-center field during a 5-0 home win over Monte Vista. The week before, Aumua broke the NCS mark for career home run mark with two home runs in a 10-8 road victory over Dublin.
