By Mohammed BaluTumu, (UWR), April 17, GNA – The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has confirmed Mr Adamu Yakubu, a teacher, as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to steer the affairs of the area. Mr Yakubu got 30 “Yes” votes out of the 31 Assembly members representing 96.77 per cent while one voted “No”. Mr Charles Oten Bonsra, the Sissala East Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission declared the results amidst applause from Assembly members and supporters of Mr Yakubu.

By Mohammed BaluKong, (UWR), Feb. 05, GNA – The Rural Organisation of Women farmers and Agro processing Development (ROWFAD) Ghana, a non-governmental organization in Sissala East, has organized a field trip to introduce a new crop variety, fonio, to farmers. That would allow them to learn about its cultivation. Over 60 farmers selected from 10 communities attended the event, where they were educated on the Acres brand of Nano organic fertilizer.

In a statement issued in Tumu signed by all the chiefs on Monday and copied the Ghana News Agency (GNA) pledged to offer the president good counsel and the necessary support for him to succeed.

By Mohammed Balu Tumu, (UWR), Dec. 07, GNA – Most of the voting centres visited in the Tumu township witnessed a high turnout in queues waiting to cast their ballot. Some of them go to their polling stations very early to cast their ballots, defying the cold harmattan winds, so that they can go to their farms. Mr Baba Alembey told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he turned up very early, to enable him to go to his farm as harvesting of the produce was still ongoing.
