Ismail Adewusi, former postmaster-general of the federation, has described the late Victor Olunloyo, former governor of the old Oyo state, as a “rare gift” that Nigeria never fully appreciated. Olunloyo, who served as governor of the old Oyo state from October 1 to December 18, 1983, died a few days before his 90th birthday. In a statement on Sunday, Adewusi said Olunloyo was a genius whose brilliance in mathematics and public service set him apart.

The Clarion Call Care Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has announced its third annual Living Donor Day Nigeria, which will take place on April 10 in Lagos. In a statement on Saturday, the foundation said this year’s event coincides with the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s first successful kidney transplant, carried out on March 6, 2000, at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, by a team led by Ebun Bamgboye, a pioneer transplant nephrologist.

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent wave of killings in Plateau state, describing the attacks as “unacceptable” and vowing that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. On Wednesday, several people were killed during attacks on the Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos LGA, as well as the Manguna and Dafo villages in Plateau. The assaults, reportedly carried out by gunmen, left behind a trail of destruction, with homes razed and many lives lost.

The Abia state police command has confirmed the killing of two Chinese nationals and a police officer following an ambush by gunmen on their convoy in Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA. A statement on Saturday by Maureen Chinaka, the command’s spokesperson, said the victims were attacked on Friday evening while on their way to a company site at Agukwu-Amaya in Ndundu community. “The manager, Mr. Quan, his colleague Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the escort officers, were killed,” Chinaka said.
