The Korean National Police Agency announced on Monday that its National Office of Investigation (NOI) uncovered 25 cases of technology leaks to foreign countries and apprehended related offenders between January and October 2024. This is the highest number of arrests since the NOI’s inception in 2021. China was the primary destination for leaked Korean technologies, accounting for 72 percent, or 18 cases, of the total overseas technology leak cases during the period, according to the NOI.

Hyundai Motor Group and South Korea’s firefighting agency will collaborate to develop an unmanned robot designed to operate underground parking lots and deal with tasks often fraught with danger. Kia Corp. is set to enter the Japanese electric vehicle (EV) market with custom-built, purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) for commercial use. The automaker said on Tuesday that it signed a sales contract with Japanese trading company Sojitz Corp. to begin selling PBVs in Japan starting in 2026. Sojitz, one of Japan‘s seven major trading companies, operates globally in fields such as automobile sales, energy, and chemicals while also managing Kia dealership operations in Panama.

South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group and U.S. General Motors Co. (GM) have partnered to develop electric and hydrogen vehicle technology. The partnership between Hyundai Motor Group, the world’s third-largest auto manufacturer, and GM, the world’s sixth-largest automaker, follows a similar move by Toyota Motor Corp. and BMW Group for fuel cell vehicle development. Hyundai Motor Group announced on Thursday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GM for broad cooperation.
