This week, Austin ISD Superintendent Matias Segura updated parents and guardians about the future of Dobie Middle School. Children at the school could be reassigned to a different institution in the upcoming 2025 school year, and if so, they would potentially be sent to Lamar Middle School, about 6 miles away in Central Austin.

MARBLE FALLS, Texas — A collision prompted a gas leak on Friday morning in Marble Falls, leading to a road closure. The eastbound lanes of FM 1431 through the 900 block of Vía Viejo have been closed since around 7a.m. after the crash, according to a social media post from the city. The turn lane is open for east and westbound drivers, but it's unclear when the rest of the roadway will reopen to traffic. Drivers are asked to avoid the are until further notice.

BEE CAVE, Texas — Multiple people were ejected from a vehicle after a crash on Thursday morning in Bee Cave, Texas. According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), two vehicles collided sometime before 7 a.m. along the 15000 block of State Hwy 71 heading westbound. ATCEMS said that six people were involved in the crash, three of which were ejected from a vehicle.

AUSTIN, Texas — Vacant positions within the Austin Police Department (APD) have continued to increase over recent years, according to the Office of the City Auditor. An audit released on Wednesday shows the department's vacancy rates were at 17.9% in 2024, jumping by more than 2% from the year before, when the rate was 15.4%. So far in 2025, the numbers have slightly improved, with a 1% dip in vacancy to 16.9%. Currently, there are 306 open positions in the APD, compared to 325 the year before.

AUSTIN, Texas — Home sales have dropped across Central Texas this year compared to the same time last year, according to recent data. Unlock MLS recently released its first quarter Central Texas Housing Report for 2025, which shows a 9.1% dip in house sales in five counties from January-March 2025 as opposed to the same three months of 2024. The report analyzed five counties, including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell, to determine the exact Year-over-Year (YoY) change.
