The Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP), a World Bank-funded initiative has announced plans to construct 534 kilometers of rural roads across Benue State. The project, aimed at facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce, will also include the construction of warehouses to enhance agricultural storage and productivity.

Majiya village of Taura local government area in Jigawa state and the entire state was thrown into confusion and mourning following a petroleum tanker explosion which resulted in the death of over109 persons. Fifty-four others sustained various degrees of burns. Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, his deputy Engr Aminu Usman and the Speaker of the state house of assembly were among the early sympathisers who attended the mass burial of the 107 victims of the explosion.

Recall that the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMet) had predicted the likelihood of the state to experience flooding and rainstorms this year.

The Jigawa State chapters of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have rejected the N10,000 wage award offered by the state government as a palliative for fuel subsidy removal. This was contained in a press statement issued after the meeting of the Organized Labour in the state held in Dutse, the state capital.

In an effort to enhance transparency, accountability, and commitment to public service delivery, Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has mandated the members of the State Executive Council, heads of ministries, departments, and parastatals to sign a result performance bond. The signing of the performance bond took place at the state’s Government House in Dutse, the capital, in the presence of top government officials, party leaders, and development partners.
