    Two policemen were martyred while one security guard lost his life in separate overnight attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak and Peshawar, officials said on Sunday.     Two cops were injured in a late-night attack by terrorists on a police checkpost in the Puran tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district, police said on Thursday. Aloch Station House Officer (SHO) Bakht Zeb Khan told Dawn.com that over a dozen assailants attacked the checkpost late at night, however, the police personnel on duty thwarted the attack which forced the assailants to flee.

    At least sixteen personnel were injured after an explosion ripped through the second floor of the city police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi district on Thursday, police said. A statement from the Swabi police spokesperson said the explosion was caused by a short circuit in a room where material and case evidence were dumped, injuring 16-17 personnel and damaging the building. It added that a departmental inquiry would be initiated against the negligent police officers.
