Saturday, Bakersfield High School football celebrated the life of one of its own in longtime Driller football head coach Pat Preston. On December 22, 2024, Preston passed away at the age of 76 years old after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. From 1986-1996, Preston set his sights on leading his alma mater in BHS to be one of the best football programs in all of California.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX)- — The search is over and as Bakersfield College announces defensive coordinator, Tyler Thompson as their new head football coach. Thompson brings over 10 years of coaching experience, joining the BC Football coaching staff in back in 2014, where he served as an assistant coach. In 2019, he was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2019. Prior to BC, Thompson was an intern at the University of Maryland in 2013.

The recently retired NASCAR driver participated in the SoundGear 400, testing the waters on his home track. "It's fun to see something come together," Harvick said. Harvick, driving car number 29, led the race from lap 23, showcasing his racing prowess.

Centennial High School celebrated a historic evening as it inducted its first-ever Hall of Fame class. The Hall of Fame Class of 2025 honored several notable figures, including the school's first principal, Bill Hatcher, and Cy Young Award winner and current Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher, Corbin Burnes. "First hall of fame in Centennial High School history is pretty special, joined by some great other inductees as well," Burnes said.
