On November 5, 2024, the Supreme Court (SC) declared the constitutional validity of the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madarsa Education Act, 2004, with the exception of the sections permitting the Board to issue higher degrees such as Kamil (UG level) and Fazil (PG level). A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud ruled that issuing these degrees violated the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, rendering it unconstitutional.

The Israeli army began a military offensive on southern Lebanese areas more than a year ago, but has intensified its attacks on homes, civilian objects, and civilian infrastructure in the past month.
