House of Bread is a local bakery in San Luis Obispo that offers online and hands-onbaking classes to the community. House of Bread owner, Sheila McCann, started these baking classes as another form of revenue and a marketing tactic for their baked goods. “It’s one of those trades that’s best learned by someone showing you,” McCann said.

The Mustang Film Society is a new club on Cal Poly’s campus that started in fall 2023. For students who want to pursue film after they graduate, interdisciplinary studies and liberal arts (ISLA) associate professor, Doctor Emily Ryalls, wanted to create a place for these students to gather since there is no film major at Cal Poly.

In planning since July 2023, this year’s San Luis Obispo Film Festival celebrates the event’s 30-year anniversary. Starting Thursday, April 25, SLO Film Fest will bring more than 70 filmmakers to the Central Coast and screen 152 films in local venues such as The Palm Theatre, Fremont Theater and Downtown Centre Cinemas. Kyle Plummer sits on the SLO Film Fest Board of Directors with 10 other members who represent different film specialties. “The big goal is to celebrate 30 years,” Plummer said.

Cal Poly and Cuesta students flooded into Cotton Rosser Rodeo Complex to watch Rodeo team members showcase some of the events they will be competing in that weekend.
