St. Paul’s new free mental health clinic the “Living Room,” located at St. Paul’s Highland Bridge, has marked 111 visits as of November since its soft opening in August. The model aims to offer an alternative to the emergency room for those in need of mental health support or in a mental health crisis. Appointments can be scheduled in advance, but walk-ins or call-ins are available, with no appointment necessary, said Jacki Yellowflower, a peer specialist supervisor.

SAUK RAPIDS — Hudson Behling might see himself as a small-town kid from Sauk Rapids, but he’s about to make it on the big screen. The 14-year-old eighth-grader recently returned from two months in Winnipeg, Canada. He is starring as the main character in “Altar,” an A24 horror movie set to hit theaters next year. “I’m just a small kid from Sauk Rapids. I would’ve never thought a small-town kid would get a lead role in a movie,” Hudson said.

John Doman, a Pioneer Press photographer for decades, was gifted in capturing the essence of a moment and displaying humanity in a photograph through his curiosity and compassion. “I think the thing that made John so special with his work is how he connected with people,” said Jerry Holt, a former photographer for the Star Tribune and friend of Doman’s. “John had that gift about him.”Doman died Nov. 2 of cancer and pulmonary fibrosis in St. Paul, at the age of 79.

The Woodbury winter clothing donation drive nearly doubled its drop-off locations so far this year, reaching 24 locations in comparison to last year’s 13, according to the Woodbury Community Foundation. The winter clothing drive connects businesses, schools, nonprofits and volunteers to ensure local kids have the warm clothing they need. It’s run by the Woodbury Community Foundation, in collaboration with SoWashCo Cares, to reach students across the South Washington County School District.
