Marble Falls Police Chief Glenn Hanson has beef with Iron Man. “Iron Man blew up my plane,” he said. Hanson recently discovered that the popular crime-fighting vigilante, played by Robert Downey Jr., destroyed his first-ever airplane during filming of the 2016 Marvel movie “Captain America: Civil War.” “I have a bone to pick with Iron Man,” said Hanson when he found out this past June. The beloved plane was a 1966 Cessna 150 that Hanson purchased when he was 19.

The Burnet County 4-H Youth Rifle Team and Texas Youth Shooting Sports are opening their newly renovated center in Burnet to the public for an air rifling match on Saturday, Aug. 24. The event is from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. that Saturday at 2802 S. Water St.The open house follows more than a year of work by the local 4-H’ers to renovate the facility for competitions and training. The building was originally a church that was donated to the 4-H program.

Kenadi Dalton is on guard and in charge. The incoming junior at Marble Falls High School is the head lifeguard at Lakeside Swimming Pool this summer. “I make sure (the other lifeguards are) ready to make saves and that they have everything that they might need,” she said about her role. She became the highest-ranking lifeguard at the city facility after demonstrating her commitment to leadership in 2023, her first year in the poolside chair.

A proposed ordinance for the city of Marble Falls would levy fines of up to $500 for people feeding wild animals on public property, including the ducks and geese living at Backbone Creek in Johnson Park. The ordinance was introduced during the City Council’s meeting on July 16 and is scheduled for a vote on Aug. 6.

Marble Falls Inclusive Play Group recently inked an agreement with the city of Marble Falls to build a 20,000-square-foot playground at Westside Park, 1610 Second St.The City Council unanimously approved the deal on July 16, formalizing the collaboration with the nonprofit, which started in 2022 with the sole intention of creating a park that children of all physical and sensory abilities can enjoy.
