Christchurch's CBD will be filled with some of the world's best street performers from Friday, as the World Buskers Festival gets underway. It has been running since 1993, and this year features 330 performances over a 10 day period. There will be dancers, acrobatics, circus and comedy shows, meaning this year's festival has something for everyone.

新西兰在禁塑令上一轮升级中已经禁止了聚苯乙烯（发泡塑料）食物及饮料盒、塑料棉签以及饮料搅拌棒。如果企业无视禁令，最高将面临10万纽币的罚金。 Michael Vivian在基督城经营一家名为Beckenham Butchery的肉铺生意。他表示，早在禁塑令正式实施之前，他们就开始试验几种不同的塑料替代品，但结果并不理想。 "我们开始使用可回收的塑料托盘，但顾客会不会循环使用是另外一回事。我们还试验了可降解塑料袋，顾客也不是太感兴趣。因为可降解塑料袋在冰箱里会坏掉。"他表示，很难找到像塑料一样好用的东西。 "我们也尝试过使用纸质（包装）但（肉汁）会渗到冰箱里。你真的不希望把鸡肉用纸包着放进冰箱，因为……这不太卫生。" 此外，可降解塑料袋更高的成本也让商家整体转向使用它们变得更困难。尤其是他们每周要用掉2000个塑料袋。 "我们淘汰了（可降解塑料袋）因为它们太贵了。但由于新规的实施，我们可能还要再用回来。" "可降解塑料袋每个袋子要5毛钱，而其他类型的包装每个只要6分钱。所以我们看看（以后）价格能不能降下来吧。" 还有一点令Vivian有些失望的是，可降解塑料袋需要从海外进口。...
