Cole Jr. Pleads Guilty in Connection to Father's Death

Zanesville, OH– A Zanesville man who plead guilty this week to five charges stemming from his father’s death on Christmas of last year. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said David Cole Jr. entered the pleas to tampering with evidence, possessing criminal tools, gross abuse of a corpse, obstructing justice and endangering children. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 11 years. Judge Anderson ordered a pre-sentence investigation and will hold sentencing at a later date.

Accident on I-70 Near Gratiot Gratiot, OH- Motorists should avoid traveling on Interstate 70 west in the area of Gratiot. The Ohio Department of Transportation said there is a crash beyond US-40/National Road. They said to expect lane closures on I-70 in that area.

Dresden Road Closure

Zanesville,OH- The City of Zanesville has announced a portion of Dresden Road will be closed to traffic. The City’s Engineer said the road will close between Glendale Avenue and Englewood Avenues from Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 25 to allow for water main replacement. Local access will be maintained and detours will be posted. Please expect delays, use caution around the work zone, and utilize alternate routes.
Pletcher Sentenced in Drug Case

Muskingum County- A man who escaped the Muskingum County Jail in February plead guilty to two charges stemming from his initial arrest. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said Wayne Pletcher’s charges included tampering with evidence and possessing drug abuse instruments. In July of 2024, Authorities pulled a vehicle over with expired registration. Authorities discovered Pletcher had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and a post-release control violation.
Riggs Guilty for Role in the Escape of an Inmate

Muskingum County- The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said a person charged in connection to a February jail escape in Muskingum County has pled guilty. Officials said that Joshua Riggs entered the plea to two charges of obstructing justice in connection to the escape of Wayne Pletcher. Judge Kelly Cotrill sentenced Riggs to a 30 month prison sentence. During the investigation Riggs admitted that Pletcher and his girlfriend came to his home the night of the escape.
Oklahoma Man Sentenced in Muskingum Co.

Muskingum Co.- The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office announced an Oklahoma man received a seven-year prison sentence in Muskingum County Court for sexual abuse charges involving a 12-year-old child. Authorities said in September of 2024, they discovered that Kaymen Keenom asked the victim for nude pictures and on multiple occasions requested videos. Muskingum County Sheriff’s Detective Brady Hittle said once Keenom realized that he might get caught, he told the victim to block him on Snapchat.
Dollar General Makes Donations to Transitions

Zanesville, OH- Dollar General has made a donation to a local non-profit in recognition of March’s Women’s History Month. The Dollar General Distribution Center in Zanesville and its employees donated more than $4,000 worth of personal care products, food, baby and cleaning supplies to Transitions. We humbly live out our company mission of serving others by providing needed items for women in the surrounding communities.
